Nichelle Nichols who played the roll Lieutenant Uhura 'Star Trek's' was died at 89

Actress and singer Nichelle Nichols best known as Lieutenant Uhura 'Star Trek's' was died at the age of 89

She Was died Saturday night in Silver City, New Mexico at the age of 89

She was one of the first black women to star in a television series

her role in 'Uhura' the original TV series was outstanding.

"Here I was presenting in the 23rd century which should have been simple enough," Nichols said this in NPR  2011.

In 1968, with Captain James T. Kirkee Nichols came into the headlines  when Uhura shared an intimate kiss an episode "Plato's Stepchildren."

One of the first such moments on TV was their interracial kiss on the lips, which was revolutionary.

Nichols' father was the mayor and dhe was born Grace Dale Nichols in the Chicago suburb

her childhood Growing up singing and dancing, she had many opportunities to act in musical theatre.
